As mentioned earlier, the quiet road noise is deal breaker for me and I love these Cup 2 for that reason.

In summary the pluses of these Cup 2 for me are fantastic handling, dry grip, treadwear and low road noise. The negatives for me are handling in the (severe) wet and soft sidewall. As an all rounder high performance summer tires, Cup 2 is the only one in my opinion.

The second generation Cup tire, however, is rapidly rising to the top of the list as my favorite road-car tire ever. I’ve been daily driving Project Boxster for nearly the entire time we’ve had it, and it sees all kinds of conditions. Being that I live in the desert, it’s mostly hot and dry, though.

Initial ride quality was harsh due to the tires being cold, and as I went around my first corner at around 20-30mph the back started to slip a little and it felt very uneasy under foot. Not fill your pants scary, just unsettled.

I found the wet grip to be genuinely impressive for a tire with so little tread depth and such an aggressive compound. Michelin’s engineering team clearly worked hard to balance the competing demands of dry track performance and wet-road safety.
