First time I'm getting a performance winter tire on a performance car apart from Pirelli Scorpion on Audi SQ5 which were not so good. Summer are on 19" so opted for 18" winter setup on PA4.

Tires performed superbly. Car is xDrive which certainly helped going uphill but handling and grip downhill were still very predictable. Noise is decent, our road surfaces are poor but compared to other tires they do seem to generate more road noise but nothing bothersome.

My verdict: a very reliable tire on all weather conditions - great balance of good grip on dry, wet, snow and ice, comfortable and somehow quiet for a winter tire (just a bit louder at 40/80/160km/h). Sporty handling on dry and cold weather, below 10-15*C, if above 15*C slippery).

The comfort is superb from the begin to years after. They are also very quiet no matter the road you drive on. Road feedback couldn't be any better that I wish I had that combination of comfort/stability in a track tire.

Unlike most “normal” winter tires we have experienced, the Pilot Alpin PA4 tires seemed to add no thrum, hum, or other noise in the cabin. We can credit the outstanding construction of the Cadillac, but we have many years of experience testing and owning winter tires. They always hum. These did not.

From 25 mph up to highway speeds, and across all varieties of road surfaces, the Pilot Alpin PA4 is a strikingly quiet snow tire. In fact, we’d suggest that road noise is comparable to many all season and summer tires. They’re quieter than our Continental ControlContact Sport A/S all season tires, for example.

Icy road braking is also impressive. We used a B7 Audi S4 fitted with all season tires as a reference point in an informal braking test. From 45 mph on an icy road the Pilot Alpin PA4 stopped in (near as makes no difference) half the distance of the Audi with all season tires.
