The Dunlaps were I think the worst tires I've used that were billed as performance tires, especially for everyday use. They had good grip in the dry but actually squeaked when i drove over newly painted road lines. They also had a brutal ride.

It is the worst tires for cornering on dry, i have ever experienced. Understeer and no steering feel. After 20,000km, the wear is 50% with normal-to-fast driving, mainly across Europe.For wet they are strong and aquaplanning is ok. Braking on wet is quite good. Very low noise.

On the highway during heavy rain, I didn’t experience any hydroplaning at legal speeds. The tire felt planted and predictable even through standing water on the road surface. I was impressed by how quickly it evacuated water — a testament to the groove design.

Noise levels are moderate. At city speeds, the tire is reasonably quiet. On the highway around 70 mph, there’s a noticeable hum — more than a premium touring tire, but less than some track-focused rubber I’ve used.

The Dunlop was also one of the quietest tyres – another major plus for those regularly covering long distances. Add in a second place for dry braking, and you have the most successful tyre away from the wet tests, even though it was eighth in our dry handling test.

Here’s where I have to be transparent. The Dunlop Sport Maxx RT is not a long-lasting tire. This is the primary trade-off you make for that incredible dry grip. During my extended test period, I could visually see the tread wearing down faster than I’d expect from a touring or all-season tire.
