WHAT OWNERS SAY

So far with limited use on a Ram 1500 pickup the Stronghold has been outstanding. Cannot wait to get it out in the snow hunting. I’m going to buy a set for my Ford F150 when its tires need replaced. Cooper Tires are fantastic USA made.

Fairly quiet. A lot quieter than the last 4 sets of Yoko G003. Has a bit of noise, not a hum just a background noise. Louder than the Toyo at’s I had in at the beginning. Can hold a convo in the truck and talk on Bluetooth and all is good.

Wet roads require more following distance; braking distances feel longer than the silky AT3 4S I loved. Fuel economy dipped about 1.5 mpg unloaded. After 12k miles, wear looks even and promising. For anyone hauling, towing, or facing real winter/off-road, the Stronghold delivers that tougher confidence. My Experience With Cooper Discoverer AT3 I ran the AT3 4S on my daily driver SUV for nearly 70k miles, and the XLT version on a previous half-ton truck.

On dry pavement, the Stronghold AT inspires confidence. Braking distances felt short and predictable, and cornering grip was solid even when I pushed the truck through highway on-ramps faster than I should have. The interlocking tread block design keeps the tire stable under lateral loads, so there’s minimal squirm or vagueness in the steering.

This is where I was most pleasantly surprised. Wet traction is genuinely excellent. I hit several heavy rainstorms during my testing, including standing water on highway on-ramps, and the Stronghold AT evacuated water impressively. I felt zero hydroplaning — not even a hint of it. Braking in the rain was equally reassuring.

Unbelievable is all I can say for an AT tire. At slow speeds less than 15 maybe 20 you get some build up of mud. Not too bad though. Bump it up to 23 as verified by GPS and the tires get rid of the mud.

After 25,000 miles of mixed driving, I’m extremely pleased with the tread life. I started with a tread depth of 16/32″ on my LT-size tires. Today, they are measuring at a consistent 11/32″ across all four tires. This projects a life of well over 50,000 miles, right in line with Cooper’s warranty.
