Had Castle Rocks on my 2018 272 RL and in 2022 we took a 6 hour trip in 90 plus degree weather and lost all 4 tires one at a time and a 6 hour trip turned into almost 36 hour nightmare stopping for tires along the way.

Beware of Castle Rock Tires Recently I experienced a blowout of a Castle Rock ST225/75R15 tire. The tire was factory installed on my 2016 Forest River Cherokee Limited. It's DOT stamp was (1515), very low miles, correct pressure, less than Max Load, and under recommend speed.

We had the same issue, we had less then 500 miles on our Cross Road RV & had a blow out. Caused us over $750.00 in damage to side of camper & knocked off our gas line connector, we were very lucky when the guy changed the tire it did not blow up.

I’ve noticed that in a lot of cases where Castle Rock tires failed prematurely they were only marginal in their load rating and they failed in hot ambient temps. Owners claim they weren’t overloaded but if the tire was improperly rated in the first place that could be a significant contributor to the failure.

I personally would not run them more then one season on a camper. I would not be concerned about them on a cargo / utility trailer but I still wouldn't go over 4 years with the castle rock. The difference being the amount of damage done to a camper when a tire shreds.

I had Castle Rocks on my Geo for 4 seasons with no issues and great tread wear, thousands of miles. Purchased a Mini-Lite that had Endurance, which everyone raves about, barely got three seasons and tread-wear was unimpressive. Just switched to Carlisle HD and noticed a difference right away.
