After 18 months and approximately 15,000 miles, I still had about 3/32″ of tread remaining. This included 12 autocross events and 4 track days—usage that would destroy lesser tires.

less responsive in the same conditions and on the same cars, the compounds were literally melting away, affecting grip and tread life. Even more, we were putting in 1.5 more runs on the BFGoodrich tires, but they looked as if they did half the work.

The results were both a blessing and a curse: While it afforded consistently high grip levels once warmed, it was decidedly awful in the wet. And that year, we had plenty of precipitation on transits, resulting in many white-knuckle hydroplaning moments.

In typical California rain (light to moderate intensity), the tires performed admirably. Hydroplaning resistance was acceptable at highway speeds, and I never felt unsafe during my daily commute in wet conditions.

I found the grip threshold in wet conditions to be about 60-65% of dry grip. That’s actually quite good for a tire in this category.

This is where you need to exercise real caution. In heavy downpours with standing water on the freeway, I could feel the tires starting to lose contact at speeds above 65 mph.

The aggressive tread pattern produces noticeable road noise at highway speeds. I’d rate it about 20-30% louder than a comparable premium touring tire.

The skid pad exercise was an eye opener for me, as this category of extreme-performance tires is what I am in the market for. I am not ready for the compromises of slick tires and I am still driving to the track anyways, so I still need something streetable.

Now do have one thing to say about these tires, they are not meant for wet conditions, so I don’t particularly recommend these for your daily driver, which is the only reason why I wouldn’t put them on my car.
