I currently have the Michelin Harmony on my 97 Town Car, and a set of Uniroyal Tiger Paw AWP II on my 96 Cougar and my Mom's 97 Town Car. The Michelin's do ride better but I'm not sure if it was worth the extra money or not.

I have the tiger paw and can't recommend them. They bulge at the sides, and growl above 65 mph. I had to put 35psi in them just to get some road control. it's like the tire is rolling around on the rim. Hancooks are much better.

In my opinion there are MUCH better tires out there. It all drepends on what you are looking for. Many of us want Summer performance tires not all seasons. The previous owner of your car may not have been an enthusiast or just wanted to throw on some new cheap tires to sell the car.
