WHAT OWNERS SAY

❝
I have had both on my car and I recommend the TripleTreds. The michelins wore out at 65k and made ungodly noise on the highway along with shaking in the steering wheel as the miles racked up on them. Yes, I did rotate them.

The TripleTreds are good in the snow...maybe not quite as good as I had hoped...but good nevertheless. I have noticed a slight tendency to spin for a second or two when turning from a stop...such as when you come to a stop sign and then proceed to turn.

The triples are quiet, but not the quietest I've ever driven. It's hard for me to really compare as the Ody isn't a particularly quiet vehicle, but at least I can talk to my wife without "yelling" anymore. Second, they do ride "softer". Third, they do quite well in the snow.

Ok, the tripletreds (225/60/16) are on and I have taken a 275 mile highway trip. Wow, they are great. They are much quieter than the Symmetry and very nice on the road.

I chose TripleTreds over Hydroedges, mostly for the better snow performance. They are indeed excellent tires. I haven't noticed much of a difference in mileage over the stock Integrities, but the handling is so much better in all conditions that I'd rate the OEMs as dangerous.

My wife has the TripleTreads, I have a new set of HydroEdges. One absolute certainty is that the TripleTreads murder fuel economy while the HydroEdges just beat on it a little. Both are excellent in the rain.

New Update! Just wanted to add a final updated opinion on these tires for they are just about out of tred. So I'm up to 90K miles and the tires are looking a little worn down and in need of replacing.

I have about 5000 miles on mine. My local Sears price matched Tire Rack. I concur with most of the above comments. With a few exceptions: road noise IMHO is about the same on old roads, but they are quieter on newer asphalt. I feel they have a stiffer sidewall, but I'm not complaining.

Pros: - Great grip in dry conditions, I can take turns faster than before. - Very comfortable ride and quieter than the Integrity tires which is great - Handles heavy to light showers very well. No hydroplaning at all, it keeps a great grip on the road even at high speeds in deeps standing water.

UPDATE! So Virginia got about four inches of snow and ice giving me the chance to try out the tires in some winter conditions. These tires performed pretty well though honestly they didn't really feel like they had any better traction in the snow then my Integrity tires.

Ride comfort and road noise is an area where we feel the Defender wins out over the TripleTred AS. Yes, the difference is not that pronounced on smoother surfaces, but on bumps and small potholes the Defender is more comfortable.
