When I said 'they are more different than I expected,' the best way to describe that with one word is SMOOTH! These tires are smooth in all aspects. They are substantially quieter than the old 71R, maybe a 2 out of 10.

The RE71RS is a much louder tire than the PS4S. I was surprised at how quiet the PS4S was when I first got a set. Wear on the RE71 really isn’t that bad on the street, certainly won’t last as long as the PS4S but wasn’t terrible either.

The stiffness is palpable on bumps, and the sticky compound flings a lot of debris at my fenders when I’m driving over loose stuff. Over gravel, the sound of rocks pelting the car was too much for me to bear and I had to back off.

Wet weather performance terrifies. During light rain testing, the RE-71RS lost traction in situations where the Michelin and Continental maintained secure grip.
